Jairo Dealba
Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Jairo found solace and inspiration in the beauty of books, cartoons, and music. Self-taught, he honed his craft, channeling his dreams and emotions into his artwork. Each piece reflects his journey— from the pursuit of a fulfilling life to the joy of marrying his muse and raising their beloved son. Through both his art and his writing, he explores the intricacies of existence, inviting viewers and readers alike to contemplate the complexities of the human experience. Jairo is an award-winning painter and poet (Viewsonic Colorpro & APPEA: "Peace in Art" Awards, Grand Prize Winner: Sor Juana Contest for Poetry and Prose in Spanish). His self-published works include Sonnets, Prose Poems, Emperor Penguin, and Poemas. His collaborative work with Robert A. Cozzi has appeared in Scissortail Quarterly, Livina Press, Collaborature Magazine, and Pockets Literary Journal. Whenever he isn’t creating, you can find Jairo in the boxing ring or with his young son enjoying father-son time.
“He floats as he strolls in, which is so unlike most New Yorkers, but Derek touches everything differently, even the pavement of the city. Rob on the other hand has been an actor in a role he has forced himself to play. For as long as he can remember, he has presented a side of himself as someone different from whom he is meant to be.”
